Galicia flies to US for ILEP grant
      Maylani L. Galicia, a Math teacher, gets a fellowship in the International Leaders
in Education Program (ILEP) in the United States of America.
      ILEP is a program by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US
Department of States.  This is a program administered by the International Research
and Exchange Board (IREX) that brings outstanding secondary teachers to the US to
further develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills, and
increase their knowledge about the United States.  She will also have the opportunity
to audit classes and attend a specialized seminar at a US university and participate in
a practical training at a US secondary school.
      “Her impressive academic accomplishments and passion for teaching have made
possible her selection as principal candidate,” said Esmeralda S. Cunanan, Executive
Director of the Philippine-American Educational Foundation.
      The program duration dates from January 6, 2009-May 21, 2009.  Among the
benefits she will receive are roundtrip airfare, academic program fees, insurance,
housing, and a laptop computer
