Paulba National High School launches iSchools and
UNWG Student Learning Support Projects
In line with the school’s improvement efforts, Paulba National High School launched
two projects;  iSchools (Internet for Public High School and United Nations’ Women’s
Guild Student Leaning Support Project.  Said launching was held during the Family
Day Celebration last March 6, 2008 at the school grounds.  A thanksgiving mass was
held for the many blessings the school  has been receiving.

Paulba National High School is one of the 320 recipient schools of the iSchools
Project.  This project, sponsored by the Commission on Information and
Communications Technology (CICT) Human Capital Group in partnership with Bicol
University College of Science aims to contribute in integrating ICT in education
initiatives of the government to enable our graduates to be globally competitive. Its
project components included conduct of Community Mobilization last Oct. 6, 2007,
Sustainability Planning Workshop for School Administrators held last October 15 –
17, 2007 and deployment of 21 units of computers and peripherals, 3 in 1 printer and
LCD projector last February 14, 2008.  This summer, a training for all the teachers of
Paulba National High School will be conducted by Bicol University.  The logistics for
the project deployment, like the repair of computer laboratory room, provision of
computer tables and electrical installations were provided by the Local Government
Unit of Ligao City.  Other requirements for project implementation were provided by
DepEd, Ligao City.  The parents, thru the GPTA and the Barangay Council of Paulba
committed their support to ensure its sustainability and security.  

To provide for additional resources that will enhance academic performance,  the
school initiated project Student Learning Support which aims to address scarcity of
instructional resources through collaboration and involvement of stakeholders.  The
United Nations Women’s Guild, Geneva, Switzerland, through the sponsorship of one
of its members, Mrs. Amelia Bonacua-Colebrooke,  supported the project by donating
4400 CHF for student standard chairs, books, supplementary, audio-visual learning
materials and basic school supplies for the needy students.

The affair was graced by special guests from DepEd, Dr. Diosdado M. San Antonio,
Schools Division Superintendent of Ligao City, Mrs. Corazon Ocfemia, Division ICT
Coordinator and Mrs. Edna G. Gregorio, ES-1, Mathematics/Cluster 10 Consultant.
Mr. Virgilio Flores, Administrative Officer/Head, Civil Registrar’s Office represented
the Local Government Unit of Ligao.  Six Bicol University Staff came headed by Mr.
Erwin Rayel, ICT Coordinator and Ms. Neria Gomez, Bicol University Librarian.  Other
stakeholders who were present were the parents, headed by the GPTA officers and
Paulba Barangay Council represented by Mr. Arturo Arcega, Committee Chair for
Education and watchmen.

Launching of said projects were integrated in the Family Day Celebration, attended
by guests, parents, students and teachers.  This was spearheaded by the Supreme
Student Government officers.
