in the Implementation of WSA
Bicol Regional Science High School was named 1st place on the
presentation of the Best Practices in the Implementation of the Whole School
Approval (WSA) to Mastery Reading and Writing for Successful learning in
the Secondary Level. The presentation was held during the Seminar
Workshop of the third-year component of the program held last November 2-
7, 2008 at Iloilo Grand Hotel, Iloilo City. The schools’ presenter were Mrs.
Cherryl L. Lita, - Mathematics teacher, Mr. Ted O. Villamor – Computer
Education teacher and Mr. Randy Briz – MAPEH teacher.
Among the WSA Implementations of the School, “WSA On-Line” is
considered one of the best Practices that yielded the most number of text
votes. “WSA On- Line” introduced and developed by Mr. Ted O. Villamor
features teaching and learning on the cyberspace in different subject areas
taught in English as the medium of instruction using the school’s website.
Bicol RSHS was the school who presented a unique practice on the
implementation of said program.
The WSA is already on its third year of implementation. It started last
SY 2006 – 2007 in the first year level. On the second year of the program,
the school as pilot implementor in the division, had conducted re-echo
seminar to all school’s in the Division of Ligao City. Now that it is on its third
year, the BSE is expecting for its full and improved implementation. Mr.
Nelson S. Morales Jr., acting ASDS of the Division will ensure the propagation
of the program by monitoring and evaluation of the WSA in the Division.
The awarding ceremony was held on Nov. 07, 2008 during the Closing
Program of the Seminar Workshop. The second and third place went to
Kalayaan National High School and Santolan National High School
respectively, both from the National Capital Region (NCR). Mr. Eduardo L.
Nañoz, the school principal, Mr. Nelson S. Morales Jr., acting ASDS, with the
3 teachers, received the certificate with their greatest smiles.
